In June, a new book entitled The Zozo Phenomenon is hitting the shelves. Co-authored by Darren Evans and Rosemary Ellen Guiley, the book discussed Evans encounters with the famous ouija haunting entity. Evans is famous for the research he has conducted on the subject while Guiley is well known author with over 50 books discussing the paranormal accredited to her name.
In 1982, Evans found an extremely unique ouija board in the crawlspace of his girlfriend’s home. On the top of the board, in the location that the word ouija is traditionally written, was the word Zozo. The board was lying on the ground with clear jars sitting on all four corners which contained dead black birds. Upon further inspection, peculiar engravings and silver leafing was found on the back on the board. It was clear right away that this was not a typical Fuld or Milton Bradley board, but one that had been used, for perhaps, a darker purpose.
Whenever Evans would use the board, the word Zozo would be spelled out by the planchette. As he continued to use the board things began to go poorly in his life. He began developing health issues and ended up requiring two deliverance rituals performed on him to remove the evil influences from his life. Even though his life was on a downward spiral, Evans says that he was unable to walk away from the board. The board and talking to the entity had become an obsession.
On season 10, episode 3 of Ghost Adventures, Zak Bagans and the crew travelled to Oklahoma City to investigate the home Evans was living in at the time of his communications with Zozo as well as to have a sitting with Evans were they use a similar style board. During the investigation, it is claimed that evidence of a demonic presence was captured and various words were spelled out on the board including the name Zozo around twenty times.
It is claimed by many that Zozo is a demon who will often start interacting through an ouija board in a friendly manner, often appearing under the guise of being a deceased loved one. He will provide information that it seems that only that person could know as well as very exact and personal facts about those having the sitting. After a time, the communications will become more sinister with the subject matter becoming violent and obscene. When the entity is in both a positive and a negative manner, the information coming through the board will be repetitive. There have been reports of interactions all over the world with these more frequently happening with people who have are depressed, suicidal, or afflicted by another mental illness.
As well as co-authoring that book, Evans has a blog where Zozo encounters can be reported that also serves as a warning to all those that wish to use an ouija board that is should be done carefully.
